What is a quality workflow?  How do we develop it?  Below are elements of the production cycle that most creative people move through as they create something.  First, we must identify the stages of project production. What is each stage and what are the quality checks for each stage.  Read on and find out!

Stages of Creation Development

Inspiration

How do we find ideas to develop?

  • We should use our surroundings as inspiration.
  • We should use the process of trial and error to see which ideas inspire you the most.
  • I would measure quality by seeing if the idea inspires anyone else.
  • The person who measure the quality is yourself.

Intention

How do we clarify our specific goal(s) for a project?

  • We should use peer feedback.
  • We should use a process of elemination to clarify our goals.
  • We would measure quality by seeing how specific your goals are.
  • The person who measures the quality is yourself

Pre-production

How can we brainwrite, brainstorm, storyboard, and plan our ideas at this phase?

  • We could use padlet and other thought organizing sites.
  • We should use the trial and error process.
  • We would measure the quality by seeing which ideas others like more.
  • You and your peers would measure the quality.

Production

How do we communicate with each other and execute our plan for this phase? This is where we actually make the project.

  • We could use texting and the collaborate feature on soundtrap.
  • We could use the trial and error process.
  • We could measure quality by seeing what others like the best and what you like the best in comparison.
  • You and your peers measure quality.

Post-production

How do we communicate with each other and execute our final stages of the project for this phase? This is where we publish the project.

  • We could use texting and the collaborate feature on soundtrap.
  • We could use the process of elimination to get rid of excess material that we don’t necessarily need.
  • We could measure quality by seeing what others like the best and what you like the best in comparison.
  • You and your peers measure quality.

Presentation/Performance

How do we share our project with our learning community, advisory members, and the world?

  • We could use tools like Youtube, Patreon, and things like that.
  • We should use the process of sharing.
  • We measure quality by seeing what your listeners think of your songs.
  • Your listeners measure quality.

Feedback

How do we conduct a feedback session at the end of the project development cycle?

  • We can use the reviews that people leave our songs.
  • We could use the process of constructive criticism to improve on our future songs.
  • We measure quality on how well other people like the songs.
  • Your listeners measure your quality.
